Step 1: Ensure that the shut off arm located at the top of the ice bin is turned on. If the arm is upright, it means it is turned off. If it is turned on and the ice maker is still not working, check for continuity using an Ohm meter.

Step 2: The ice maker will not be able to make ice if the water line running behind the fridge is disconnected or has low water pressure. Ensure it is attached to the water source and the valve of the ice machine.

Step 3: Ensure the filter is not clogged. The filter purifies water and removes bad taste from the ice. The filter should be removed, cleaned according to the manual instruction that comes with a fridge or download a copy from the manufacturer’s website.

Step 4: Check if the freezer’s temperature is working. It is controlled by the ice maker mold thermostat. The temperature should be between 0 to 5 degrees. If the freezer temperature is too high, check the condenser coil and compressor.

Step 5: Ensure the ice level control board is working. The refrigerator comes with an infrared light beam that detects the ice level in the ice bucket. Once it reaches the ice level, the beam is interrupted and ice maker shuts off. As soon as the ice level drops, ice maker starts working again. If the ice level control board stops working, the ice maker will not make the ice.

Step 6: Check if the door switch is working. Opening of the freezer door turns on the light and turns off the ice maker and dispenser. If the door switch stops working, the dispenser will not work. Check for the continuity using an Ohm meter.
